To depict the MTV Movie Awards as the naughty sibling of traditional awards shows, director Grant Lau allowed classic movie theater snacks to become the stars of the show. The identity centered around fetishizing the snacks and elevating these everyday treats to award show status by transplanting them into a hyper-glossy, high contrast, colorful world of risqué pop abstraction.
